Code of Conduct

The Rail Trail runs through farming country, towns and ecologically sensitive grasslands and wetlands which necessitates appropriate care.

Use of the Rail Trail is conditional on the following:

Town Code of Conduct

  • Do not park in front of emergency gates.
  • Dogs must be on a leash at all times.
  • Clean up after your dog.
  • Horses are not allowed.
  • Leave gates as found.
  • Take your rubbish with you.
  • No motor bikes.
  • Users to keep on the trail.
  • Keep to the left.
  • Warn others when approaching from behind.
  • Do not obstruct other users.
  • Do not ride on Code Red Days and days of Total Fire Ban and take care on days of high fire danger.

Rural Code of Conduct

  • Dogs must be on a leash at all times.
  • Horses to use the verge and are not allowed on the following sections of the Rail Trail:
    – Port Fairy to the Mailors Flat – Koroit Road
    – Levys Point Car Park to the Warrnambool Breakwaterl.
  • Leave gates as found.
  • Do not disturb stock.
  • Take your rubbish with you.
  • No fires.
  • No camping.
  • No motor bikes.
  • Users to keep on the trail.
  • Keep to the left.
  • Warn others when approaching from behind.
  • Do not obstruct other users.
  • Do not ride on Code Red Days and days of Total Fire Ban and take care on days of high fire danger.
